A series of storms moved through the Klamath National Forest on August 11,2014 igniting approximately 20 fires near the community of Happy Camp, Ca. On August 13th Southern California Incident Management team 2 assumed command of these fires. Aggressive suppression efforts have minimized the growth of most of the small fires. Because of critically dry fuels and steep inaccessible terrain several of the larger fires continue to present a challenge for full containment.
