Hinds Hospice One of Several Local Charities to Benefit from ‘Home of Hope’

Not a day goes by that Bob Marcotte doesn’t think about his late wife, Carole Marcotte.

A beautiful singer, actress, and the funniest person, Bob says, he’s ever met. They were married for 24 years, with the last four, fighting Carole’s cancer. Bob called on Hinds Hospice to help.

"When they provided that comfort and dignity it was amazing what affect it had on my wife’s life," Bob Marcotte says.

Bob says his wife even got better under Hind’s care, but eventually the cancer took its toll.

"When she passed away, she knew she was loved. I grieved, but I did not regret because she had the best care possible," Bob Marcotte says.

And that care has been provided in our community at Hinds Hospice since 1981, coming in at a tough time in life

"We basically work with the patients and families to manage their pain and symptoms at the end of their life," Amy Tobin, CEO of Hinds Hospice, says.

And being a part of the final journey Hinds Hospice becomes an extra pair of helpful hands, both physically and emotionally.

"Most of our staff feel called to do this work and most feel like they are part of the patients and families life,” Tobin says.

Hinds Hospice has received around $ 240,000 since the Granville Home of Hope project started. With every single dollar critical to supporting Hinds Hospice programs that care for local families on their grief journey.

"The bottom line is hospice work is very hard to do and is the work of saints and angels,” Bob Marcotte says.

And Bob says mere mortals like us can simply help by funding them.
