Homelift program to help local homebuyers

Help is on the way for homebuyers in Fresno.

Mayor Ashley Swearengin is partnering with Wells Fargo to provide down payment help for homebuyers. It’s all part of Wells Fargo’s Homelift program. Under the plan, eligible homebuyers in Fresno, Stockton and Modesto will receive $ 15,000 in payment assistance grants.

Mayor Swearengin says this could help a lot of homebuyers locally.

"We all know that usually, the biggest barrier to getting somebody into a homeownership opportunity is the ability to put a down payment together," she said.

There will be a Homelift event at the Fresno Convention Center, on May 30th.
