July Complex (Wildfire)

A storm moved across Siskiyou County on July 29, 2014 with little moisture and a significant amount of lightning—with over 955 down strikes recorded. As of August 1st, the lightning had resulted in at least 26 lightning caused fires on the Happy Camp/Oak Knoll, Salmon/Scott Ranger District, and Goosenest Ranger District. Three of these fires are now being managed as the July Complex; the Whites fire approximately 4 miles East of Sawyer Bar, the Log fire approximately 6 miles West of Greenview, and the Leef fire approximately 7 miles Southwest of Callahan. California Interagency Incident Management 1 (Jerry McGowan, Incident Commander) assumed command of the July Complex at 6 pm on August 2, 2014.Etna is not in an evacuation, an Evacuation Advisory only is in effect only for Quartz Valley between Scott River road and Oro Fino road. An evacuation center has been set up at Scott Valley Jr High School located at 237 Butte Street, in Fort Jones CA for the Evacuation
