Klamath National Forest Lightning Fires (Wildfire)

June 9 Afternoon Fire UpdateAs of 3 p.m. today there are a total of six small fires on the Klamath National Forest. Three on Goosenest Ranger District, two on the Happy Camp Oaknoll Ranger District and one on the Salmon Scott Ranger District. The largest of these fires is the Wildhorse fire at .71 acres on the Goosenest Ranger District east of Tennant. All three Goosenest fires are controlled at this time. The Oak Knoll Fires at Buckhorn and Gunsight are each under a quarter acre and are contained at this time. The Salmon River Fire is near Packers Peak and crews are working their way in now and Smokejumpers have been ordered. A type 2 helicopter as well as two strike teams of engines have been ordered to support fire operations. There are active storms in the area at this time.
