Man Exposes Himself to Students in Clovis

In Clovis, the search is on for a man who exposed himself to students at an elementary school.

It happened near Freedom Elementary School at Locan and Gettysburg.

The victims, three little girls, were walking home from school. They reported the crime to the principal, who called police.

The girls gave police a good description of the suspect and his car.

Parents are on high alert. They got a call from the school district this afternoon to tell them about the man exposing himself to students.

‘Hello. This is an important message from Freedom Elementary School,’ the recorded message went out to parents at the end of the school day Monday, to let them know what had happened.

‘We learned about a community incident in which a school age student reported seeing a male inside a vehicle expose himself,’ the recording continued.

Clovis police say the girls were walking home from school near Locan and Gettysburg. The suspect was in his car, exposing himself, as the three girls walked by.

"Just knowing that stuff like that’s going on around the school, it makes me very very nervous," said Richard Martinez. He has two daughters who attend Freedom Elementary.

"As it is we don’t let our girls walk home any day of the week," Martinez said.

Clovis police put out a description of the suspect and his car, information given to them by the children.

The suspect has a medium brown complexion with short black hair. He was wearing black sunglasses.

He was in a red, two door convertible with a black interior, a rounded front end, and an emblem that looked like a ‘V’.

Witnesses saw the same car drive by the school a few days earlier. They remembered because the driver had a black bandanna over his face.

Parents are watching out for the suspect.

"Be aware of the surroundings. It’s a crazy world we live in unfortunately. And there are a lot of predators going after our children which is very scary," Martinez said.

Anyone who recognizes the description of the suspect or the suspects car is asked to call Clovis Police at 324-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 498-STOP.
