Man Shot near School Campus

Fresno police are investigating a shooting near a school campus. It’s the second shooting near a school in a week.<br /><br />Police were called to Edison Computech Middle School around five Monday night. A man drove to the campus asking for help because he’d been shot.<br /><br />This is twice in one week that victims of violence have gone to school campuses to get help. The shooting happened not far from a spot that should be a safe place for kids.<br /><br />Police worked through the early evening, piecing together evidence from a shooting near Edison Computech Middle School. A man driving this green sedan pulled onto the school grounds and told administrators – he’d been shot.<br /><br />&quot;We did find shell casings just to the west of us. And we have the vehicle which appears to have damage from rounds that struck it,&quot; said Sgt. James Rossetti with the Fresno Police Department.<br /><br />Administrators at the school put the campus on lockdown. And gathered the students in one secure spot.<br /><br />&quot;And at the time, upon our arrival, the administrators already has the children in a gymnasium and the school on lockdown and they were just waiting for word from us to release the lockdown,&quot; Rossetti said.<br /><br />Police say the wounded man was hit in the legs. He’s expected to survive. But he’s not cooperating with police. Not giving them any information on who shot him.<br /><br />Police are still investigating a shooting last Wednesday about a mile away from Edison, near the campus of Lincoln Elementary School, near Inyo and B. Two middle school students got into a fight with rival gang members. A rival gang member fired at the victims, who then ran onto the Lincoln campus to hide.<br /><br />Leaders at the Boys and Girls Club in the neighborhood are trying to offer kids an alternative to the dangers on the streets.<br /><br />&quot;Our goal is to get these kids to understand that there is a better place to be. This is a safe place. This is a positive place in this community, and kids want to be in a positive place,&quot; said Chris White with the Boys &amp; Girls Club.<br /><br />If you have any information on the shooting near Edison Computech, you’re asked to contact Fresno Police.
