Merced Police Officer shot during shoot out with gunman.

Merced Police officer was shot during shoot out with gunman after early morning traffic stop.

It all started around 2:30am after Merced Police pulled over a car in the area of 21 St. and H St. in the City of Merced. The passenger of the car started shooting at three Merced Police officers hitting one. His condition is unknown at this time .

Police did return fire. Both the driver and the passenger fled the car. One of the suspects was later found a few blocks away with gun shot wounds. The driver is still on the loose. A swat team is doing a house to house search for the suspect who is considered armed and dangerous.
