More Jobs Available for Class of 2015 Graduates, than in Recent Years Past, according to Fresno State

It’s graduation season and it can be a worrisome time for college graduates now faced with looking for a job. But, there is some promising news for these young job seekers.

Fresno State said on Tuesday, more students in the Class of 2015 are graduating with jobs, than any other class in prior years. The Career Services Department said the healing economy is to thank.

Stephen Davis, an employer services specialist in Career Services said, "A lot of seniors already have jobs lined up from talking to the different colleges on our campus. Students are getting jobs as early as their Fall of 2014, to start working this Summer of 2015."

Davis said five years ago, jobs were scarce for recent grads. But the economy has since picked up.

"Anytime a student tells me that there are no jobs out there, I show them Bulldog Link and I show that any given day, there’s 900-plus positions posted in our system," said Davis.

Where as opposed to five years ago, Davis said, there were barely 500 jobs posted on Bulldog Link.

Jake Soberal, is the CEO of Bitwise Industries, a tech company in Fresno. He commented, "Now as the market heats back up, there’s just immense opportunity out there."

Soberal said his company keeps their hiring eyes open for recent grads, and they’re glad they can, not only for their business, but for the careers of young people.

Fresno State’s graduation is on Saturday at the Save Mart Center.
