New rules protect people who work in the heat

New rules will go into effect concerning conditions in ag, construction and other outdoor professions on May 1st.

Shade must be made available when the temperature reaches 80 degrees and workers must be provided with free water.

The changes are meant to prevent heat illness and give workers better access to emergency services. Supervisors and employees must also be trained to recognize and react to heat illness.
