New scam pretends to be part of Fresno Airport

Police and the Fresno Airport are warning of a new scam targeting people with relatives in Mexico.

Police say two valley families were contacted by a person pretending to be a customs agent at the Fresno Airport. They claimed to have a relative detained at the airport that’s in possession of $ 30,000 cash. The fake customs agent then tried to get the victims to wire $ 3,000 for bail.

Fresno police say customs agents never ask to have money wired to them. Police are asking anyone who may have fallen victim to this scam to contact them.
