NORTH FORK — The North Fork School Performing Arts Program is inviting the mountain community on a magical journey to Neverland with its student production of Peter Pan Jr.
A Modern Take on a Timeless Tale
Audiences will be swept into the story as Wendy, Michael, and John Darling follow Peter Pan and Tinker Bell to Neverland, where they meet the Lost Boys and face off against the infamous Captain Hook and his band of pirates. Along the way, they’ll encounter Tiger Lily and her Brave Girls in a tale packed with fun, danger, and friendship.
Drew Cohen, president of MTI, praised the program, stating:
“Peter Pan Jr. is a story which encourages each of us to reconnect with the spirit of youth.”
Cohen continues, “MTI applauds the students from North Fork School as they find their own unique way to express what joy, freedom, adventure, and imagination means in adolescence.”
Directed by Caitlin Netzley, Peter Pan Jr. is a modern adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic story about a boy who never grows up. The musical includes original music by Morris “Moose” Charlap, additional music by Jule Styne, and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, with additional lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green. The production is presented through a special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
First Acts & Final Farewells
Not to mention, this year’s cast features students from kindergarten through eighth grade. For many, this will be their first time performing on stage. For others, it will be a goodbye to their final North Fork production. Each student brings enthusiasm, dedication, and creativity to their role, promising an evening of memorable performances and youthful energy.
