
SIERRA NATIONAL FOREST — The scenic trails of the Sierra National Forest near Yosemite National Park will host the Yosemite Half Marathon. Vacation Races organizes this event to give participants a unique chance to experience the area’s natural beauty while taking on a challenging and rewarding race.
Race Overview
Taking place on May 10th, 2025, the half marathon features a 13.1-mile course that begins with five miles of rolling dirt trails through towering pines. The marathon then transitions into a swift five-mile stretch on paved roads and concludes with a picturesque loop around Bass Lake. The race finishes at Recreation Point Campground, providing runners with a serene lakeside setting to celebrate their accomplishments.

- Start Time: The staggered wave starts from 5:45 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Start Location: Accessible via shuttles from Oakhurst to Bass Lake

Participants are encouraged to attend the race expo and bib pickup on May 9th, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Recreation Point Campground. The course has a four-hour time limit, accommodating both runners and walkers who maintain an average pace of 18.5 minutes per mile.

Sustainability Efforts
Vacation Races’ is committed to environmental stewardship. In support of that mission, the event is designated as “cup-free.” Participants must bring their own reusable hydration gear, such as water bottles or collapsible cups. This helps reduce waste and protects the natural surroundings.
Travel & Accommodations
Travelers can fly into Fresno Yosemite International Airport (FAT), located approximately one hour from Bass Lake. Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is also available and is about a three-hour drive away. Lodging options are available in Oakhurst and Bass Lake, with several hotels offering convenient shuttle services to the race. For a more immersive experience, runners can camp at the Vacation Races Campground at Recreation Point. Tent camping is available and places participants close to both the race expo and the finish line.
Community & Volunteer Opportunities
The event also offers opportunities for community involvement. Volunteers can support runners at various points during the race and earn credits for future events. Additionally, runners have the option to participate through charity bibs and fundraising for organizations of their choice in partnership with the Wander Project.
