
MADERA COUNTY — CAL FIRE has announced a series of prescribed burns scheduled to begin in early June across Eastern Madera County. The controlled burns aim to reduce wildfire risk, enhance community safety, and lower long-term firefighting costs.
Burn Schedule & Locations
- Highway 41 Corridor (Coarsegold to O’Neals)
- Dates: June 2nd – 3rd
- Time: 6:00 p.m. to midnight
- Area: East side of Highway 41 from Highway 145 to Road 200
- Acres: Approximately 104
This burn will help protect rural communities including Coarsegold, O’Neals, and Hidden Lakes.
- Vista Del Rio Area (Ahwahnee)
- Dates: June 5th
- Time: 8:00 a.m.
- Area: South side of Highway 49 near Vista Del Rio Road
- Acres: Approximately 30
This operation is designed to ensure the safety of evacuation routes in the surrounding residential areas.
- North Fork Water Treatment Plant
- Dates: June 7th
- Time: 8:00 a.m.
- Area: Near the North Fork Water Treatment Plant
- Acres: Approximately 26
The goal is to safeguard essential infrastructure in the North Fork area.
Drivers Advised to Use Caution
Drivers are encouraged to be aware of potential delays or brief road closures in burn areas, especially along narrow shoulders and cut banks near the highway. CAL FIRE urges motorists to exercise caution and not to report smoke from these planned control burns.
