MARIPOSA — CAL FIRE will host a Mariposa Wildfire Prevention Tour on June 13, 2025, spotlighting efforts to protect communities through strategic fire prevention initiatives. The event will feature Senator Marie Alvarado-Gill and Assemblyman David Tangipa and is organized in collaboration with the Southwest InterFace Team (SWIFT).
Tour Highlights
The tour will run from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., beginning at the Mariposa Park and Ride at 4874 Joe Howard Street. Participants will visit fuel break projects surrounding Mariposa. The tour will also include areas impacted by historic wildfires such as the Detwiler, Ferguson, Oak, and French Fires.
Organizers say the goal is to highlight strategic fuel breaks and fire prevention efforts that safeguard Mariposa County communities. The event reflects decades of coordinated wildfire defense work led by SWIFT. The team has operated since 1999 across a 132,000-acre area in Southern Tuolumne and Northern Mariposa counties.
Transportation will not be provided, and attendees must confirm participation by June 11, 2025, by emailing Jaime Williams at Jaime.williams@fire.ca.gov or calling (209) 742-1928.
SWIFT is a long-standing collaboration of local, county, state, and federal agencies. It also includes non-profits and associations working together to reduce wildfire risk across the region.
