Run for a Cause: 38th Annual Smokey Bear Run/Walk

BASS LAKE — Runners, walkers, and families are invited to lace up for a cause at the 38th Annual Smokey Bear Run/Walk. Hosted by the Mountain Area Runners, this community event supports local wildfire prevention efforts and emergency response programs.

Tradition with Purpose

CAL FIRE & U.S. Forest Service representatives connect, highlighting the event’s mission to support wildfire prevention and community safety.

The race will take place at Bass Lake on September 20, 2025, at Recreation Point. All vehicle access will be closed at 7:00 a.m. and will reopen at 11:00 a.m.

Participants can register online at smokeybearrun.com or in person on race day from 7:15 to 7:35 a.m.

Proceeds from the race benefit CAL FIRE and the U.S. Forest Service‘s Fire Prevention Programs, along with volunteer programs through the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

    • Family of Four Package: $100
    • Run with a Buddy Package: $50
  • Adult Race Fees
    • Early bird (through July 31): $35
    • Pre-registration (Aug. 1 – Sept.27): $45
    • Race Day: $50
  • Kids’ Race Fee
    • Flat rate: $25

Group pricing is available until July 31st. Register your group of 4 or 2 for a special discounted rate.

Smokey Bear makes a special appearance to cheer on participants.

Beyond the finish line, the Smokey Bear Run/Walk fosters community spirit and reinforces the importance of wildfire awareness. With views of the lake, support from local organizations, and a festive outdoor setting, this annual run promises fun for all ages.
