MARIPOSA COUNTY — The Mariposa County Arts Council‘s Music on the Green concert series rolls into the 4th of July weekend with two performances.

The Soul Galaxy

To kick off the weekend, on Friday, July 4th, The Soul Galaxy returns, bringing the funk. Led by guitar expert Tim Hagar, whose resume includes playing alongside blues legends like T. Bone Walker and John Lee Hooker, the band is a local favorite. Drummer, singer, and songwriter Jon Kidd—one of Mariposa’s hardest-working musicians—joins the lineup alongside bassist Charles Green from Merced. A special guest or two may also join the lineup.

Skull Country

Following the performance from The Soul Galaxy, on Saturday, July 5th, the trio of Skull Country brings their neo-western sounds from Calaveras County. Led by multi-instrumentalist Nicholas Lefler, the group blends original compositions with recognizable covers, looping percussion, and guitar to create a layered and immersive sound.

All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, sun protection, and refreshments for a comfortable evening. Parking is available on 4th and 5th Streets, with ADA-friendly access via the lower 5th Street parking lot through the Mariposa Creek Parkway entry.
