We don't need to rely on leaked renders anymore. The Nothing Phone (3) is officially here.

The UK-based tech startup, known for distinctive-looking products that deliver flagship-like experiences at somewhat affordable prices, announced its newest phone on Tuesday. Nothing Phone (3) starts at $799 and can be pre-ordered from the Nothing website starting on July 4. It comes in two colors, white and black, and its basic specs are as follows:

  • Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset

  • 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate

  • 5,150mAH battery

  • 12/16GB RAM

  • 256/512GB storage

  • 50MP main rear lens

  • 50MP periscope lens

  • 50MP ultra-wide lens

  • 50MP selfie camera

Let's unpack that a bit. That Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset isn't necessarily the cutting edge when it comes to Android phones; theoretically it should come in below the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chip powering the latest Samsung phones, for example. That said, I'm not predicting poor performance from Phone (3). Just pointing out that other, more expensive phones have higher-end chipsets, which is to be expected.

The display and battery specs are about as good as can be expected from a phone at this price, as are the camera specs. Storage and RAM are also acceptable here. However, specs aren't the only thing that matters with a Nothing phone. Like its predecessors, it runs on a unique variant of Android called NothingOS, and has a distinctive physical appearance. The three camera lenses on the back are mis-aligned and don't fit together into a bump like you see on many other phones. There's also a new glyph interface on the back that uses a little pixel-based circular window to do things like tell you the time, operate a stopwatch, or even play rock-paper-scissors with you.

We'll have to wait and see if Phone (3) lives up to its potential, but it's good to see that Nothing hasn't conformed to everyone else's design language yet, if nothing else.
