Paul Bunyan Returns To North Fork

A time honored tradition has returned once again. Paul Bunyan came to North Fork.

Large green boot prints appeared last night as we all slept, starting just outside of town on Road 200. He strolled down main street, no doubt admiring all the work we have been doing since his last visit.

When he arrived at the Recreation Center, he must have noticed that the sign was looking a little ragged, so he replaced it for us!

Those boot prints have been appearing at various times over the years since the early 1980s. Many a parent has shown them to their children and told how Paul enjoys watching the Loggers Jamboree from a spot on the hill above the arena, hidden by the trees. I’m sure many people have fond memories of scanning the tree line during the festivities, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. It was such a welcome sight to see that he still likes to visit us from time to time!

And Paul, if you read Sierra News Online, we all want to say thank you for the new sign! We greatly appreciate you!
