OAKHURST, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A bicyclist was airlifted to the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while he was maneuvering between other vehicles, in front of the Oakhurst Government Center, the California Highway Patrol said.
Officers say on Friday, a 30-year-old man from Oakhurst was riding his bicycle north on Junction Drive when he was struck by a vehicle traveling south.
According to CHP, a preliminary investigation revealed the bicyclist maneuvered between vehicles that were stopped at a red light. As he entered the southbound lane, he was hit by the vehicle, driven by another man, who had no opportunity to avoid the crash.
The bicyclist reported minor to moderate injuries, and he was transported by SkyLife air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment. CHP says he was also wearing a helmet, preventing more serious injuries.
