The Forsyth fire was reported Thursday, June 19, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., in the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness. In the following days, the valley experienced Red Flag warning weather conditions, causing the fire to spread quickly around the valley. On June 19th, an evacuation order was initiated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department. Pine Valley volunteer firefighters along with federal, state, county, city, and volunteer fire departments were dispatched and worked tirelessly on the front line throughout the night. The Dixie National Forest had several CIM Teams support the incident, leading to the result of a Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team being ordered.  Due to high winds and hot temperatures, the community and nearby wilderness was significantly impacted surrounding Pine Valley. 13 structures in a neighborhood bordering the Dixie National Forest were lost during Initial Attack.  A Forsyth Emergency Area and Road and Trail closure order was issued on June 22nd. A Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) Team was ordered to assess the effects of the Forsyth fire. The BAER Team, led by Rob Ballard, began assessments on July 9th.
