The Cherry Fire started on the evening of 7/14/2025. The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) is battling the fire with the assistance from the US Forest Service, Bennett Lumber, Clearwater Potlatch Timber Protective Association, Deary Rural Fire Department, and the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.  

A Type 3 Incident Management Team has been ordered and will take over the fire Wednesday morning, 7/16/2025. Crews and equipment are putting in a direct line to slow the rate of spread and work towards containment. No structures are currently threatened. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
