Suspect in Fresno shooting, carjacking named by police

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The suspect who allegedly shot a man and stole his car on Fresno’s Fulton Street Monday morning has been named by Fresno Police.

According to officers, around 11 a.m. they responded to multiple reports of a man who was found lying in the roadway of the 200 block of North Fulton Street after being shot. Upon arrival, he was sent to a local hospital in critical, but stable condition.

Investigators determined the man was parked along Fulton Street when a bicyclist pulled up and began an argument before a single gunshot was heard in the area. After the victim, a man in his 50s, fell to the ground, the suspect, identified by police as 32-year-old Adam Thammavong, fled in the victim’s car.

Police eventually found Thammavong and the car on Tillman and Cesar Chavez. However, Thammavong fled at a high rate of speed when he became aware of the authorities’ presence.

Officers report Thammavong was found soon after in the area with the vehicle near Kearney and Fresno streets, and was taken into custody without incident.

Fresno Police report Thammavong was ultimately booked into the Fresno County Jail on multiple felony charges. There is no known relationship between Thammavong and the victim in this case.
