Kingsburg homicide suspect arrested in Selma

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Police arrested a man in Kingsburg on Tuesday who they say is the primary suspect in a homicide.

According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Department, 38-year-old Luis Rodriguez was taken into custody in Selma following the death of 25-year-old Alvaro Hernandez Jr.

Officials say on Friday, July 18, Kingsburg Police responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the area of 7th Avenue and Nevada Street. When officers arrived, they found Hernandez suffering from obvious signs of trauma.

Hernandez was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office was requested to take over the investigation and after
exploring leads, officials say that detectives identified Rodriguez as the primary suspect.

That’s when detectives located Rodriguez in Selma and took him into custody. This remains an ongoing investigation.
