

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A 19-year-old was arrested Sunday after a street takeover during which he allegedly led officers on a pursuit in Madera County, the California Highway Patrol said.
On Sunday, July 27, just before 8 p.m., multiple callers reported a street takeover on Highway 145 at Avenue 7.
Approximately 30 vehicles were reported to be blocking the intersection, along with numerous spectators.
Officers say the 19-year-old was driving a black Jeep Grand Cherokee and was observed driving recklessly. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled a high speeds, starting a pursuit.
The driver surrendered on Road 35, south of Avenue 9, and was taken into custody.
He was booked into the Madera County Jail and is facing felony evading. The name of the 19-year-old driver was not officially released by law enforcement.
