Little girl called 'hero' after alerting mom of fire in Kingsburg

KINGSBURG, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A little girl from Kingsburg is receiving praise from first responders after taking quick action when she saw a fire spreading rapidly on Sunday.

The Kingsburg Police and fire department responded to an alley fire on July 27. Crews report the fire was spreading rapidly.

On scene, officers saw a family in the area and spoke with them – that’s how they met Eriel, a little girl who was playing outside at the time of the fire. Eriel’s mom told officials her daughter saw the fire when it started and ran to tell her. Eriel’s mom then called 911.

Thanks to her actions, officials say crews were able to put out the fire and nobody was injured.

“Because of Eriel, first responders were able to put out the fire and no one was injured. She was really eager to meet first responders on scene and it was an honor. You are a true hero, Eriel! Great job!” the police department said in a social media post.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
