Clovis Online School celebrates milestone with first permanent campus

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – After years of operating out of portable buildings, Clovis Online School now has a permanent place to call home.

The K–12 charter school, known for blending flexibility with structure, is officially settling into its new campus, located near Herndon and Clovis Avenue.

With updated facilities, innovative technology, and a continued focus on individualized learning, the school’s leadership says this marks a major step forward.

“It’s been a great journey,” said longtime staff member Marylou Menzes, who has been with Clovis Online since its early days. “I started from just a few students to now over 1,000 students… and here we are now. It’s a beautiful building and I love it.”

The school now has dedicated classrooms, science labs, counseling services, and even a digital media career technical education (CTE) program designed for hands-on learning.

Principal Sean Osterberg says the transition from temporary to permanent space is a game-changer.

“Oh, it’s exciting. We’ve always had temporary space… now it’s totally different,” Osterberg said. “Our students can do their studies at home and come on campus for the hands-on components they need for learning.”

Clovis Online’s hybrid model combines the convenience of remote coursework with in-person instruction and services, offering a unique approach that supports students from diverse learning backgrounds.

“Our schools are really based around that individual learning,” Osterberg said. “Everybody has their own styles and different needs.”

And while the school is part of the Clovis Unified School District, its reach extends far beyond.

“A third of our students are actually from outside the district,” Osterberg added. “It’s kind of a different style because you’d expect it’s just for Clovis Unified—but we serve students from counties across the Valley.”

From portable classrooms to a fully equipped permanent campus, Menzes says the journey has been worth it.

“It’s just been wonderful working with all the teachers, the students, the admin—everybody,” she said. “I’ve enjoyed every day that I’ve been here.”
