
The Gill Gulch Fire was reported August 4th and is located approximately seven miles south of Lincoln, MT. The Gill Gulch Fire is burning in a remote area with limited access and heavy dead and down vegetation. Today’s operations will include firefighters building contingency lines using heavy equipment, structure protection, and building handline where they can do so safely. Aerial support from three helicopters and a large air tanker helped to slow fire growth yesterday as fire activity increased in the afternoon. Three helicopters will be supporting ground operations today with water drops to cool hot spots.
