The Ulm Creek Fire, located approximately 6 miles north of Little Guard Peak and approximately 5 miles east of Spion Kop on the Idaho side of the ID/MT border. It started on 8/30/2025 from abundant lightning that came through the region. It is burning in the Ulm Peak Fire scar from 2006. Initial attack efforts included district firefighters and engines, the Panhandle Hotshots, and aviation support. Due to unseasonably warm and dry weather, the fire has exceeded initial attack efforts with the largest growth to date occuring overnight on 9/1/2025.
