REEDLEY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The woman who police say was shot to death by her husband in Reedley over the weekend has been identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

According to Reedley Police, on Saturday, they responded to a report of a domestic disturbance between a husband and wife near Frankwood and Parlier avenues.

Upon arrival, responding officers found a woman who had sustained multiple fatal gunshot wounds. On Monday, that victim was named by officials as 43-year-old Yesennia Rocha of Reedley.

Investigators at the scene determined that her husband, 43-year-old Michael Rocha, fled after shooting his wife in front of their children and other family members.

The Tulare County Sheriff’s Office reported on Sunday that Rocha was located in the Woodlake area. He led authorities on a pursuit before firing shots at pursuing deputies. The sheriff’s office says deputies fired back, striking Rocha. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Reedley Police continues to investigate the initial shooting on Saturday. The Visalia Police Department has taken over the officer-involved shooting investigation that took place on Sunday.

Family and loved ones have created a GoFundMe to help lay Yesennia to rest. Anyone who would like to donate can do so here.
