MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A student was transported to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in Madera Tuesday, police said.

Tuesday morning, officers responded to Stadium Road near Alpha Elementary School. When they arrived, they discovered that a student had been struck and injured by the vehicle.

The student was transported to Valley Children’s Hospital for treatment. The extent of the student’s injuries is unknown.

Police are reminding people to use caution when driving in school zones. They are also reminding parents to ensure children cross the street appropriately by utilizing crosswalks and to avoid being distracted by cell phones while walking.
