MADERA COUNTY, CA – In a unanimous vote, the Madera County Board of Supervisors appointed 20-year County employee Matthew Treber to serve as the new Chief Administrative Officer. Treber, who has dedicated his career to public service within Madera County, becomes just the seventh CAO in the county’s storied history.

Treber’s pathway to this leadership role has been marked by significant accomplishments. Before his new appointment, he served as Chief of Development Services, a role he has held since 2020. During that time, he oversaw critical sectors including Economic Development, Public Works, and Water and Natural Resources Departments. Under his stewardship, Madera County has embarked on ambitious growth initiatives, notably in the Rio Mesa area, guiding the development of over 19,000 acres of land into thriving communities. His efforts have led to the construction of 26,000 new homes and the creation of more than eight million square feet of commercial space, paving the way for economic vitality in the region.
Treber expressed his gratitude and vision for the future in a statement released after the vote: “I’m incredibly honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead this incredible organization. I remain committed to serving our community with integrity, collaboration, and purpose.” He emphasized the importance of listening to residents and ensuring that their voices are central to development decisions moving forward.
Supervisor Chair Leticia Gonzalez echoed these sentiments, stating, “We have full confidence in Mr. Treber. The Board looks forward to working with him to advance innovation, accountability, and service to the residents of Madera County.”
As he assumes this vital role, Treber is poised to tackle the challenges Madera County faces, including resource management and housing affordability. With a focus on fostering collaboration across departments, he aims to streamline processes that enhance community outcomes. Treber’s vision of creating balanced, thriving communities speaks to the heart of the county’s aspirations while also prioritizing the preservation of its natural resources. His appointment marks not just a new chapter for the county, but a renewed commitment to serving the residents of Madera County with dedication and purpose.
