FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Classes at Clovis North High School and Granite Ridge Intermediate School in Fresno were temporarily halted on Thursday after a “questionable phone call” prompted a lockdown on campus.
A picture taken inside Granite Ridge Intermediate School, sent to YourCentralValley.com, shows students huddled together in the dark with classroom lights switched off during the campus-wide lockdown. The picture was taken around 1:40 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the Clovis Unified School District, the initial lockdown (as shown in the picture above) lasted around 10 minutes. That lockdown was later transitioned into a shelter-in-place, which allows students to move around and continue classroom instruction.
In a message sent to parents at the Clovis North Educational Center, staff wrote that a “questionable phone call received on a back line of the school” prompted safety protocols to be followed until it was established that there was no risk to students.

District staff added that law enforcement completed a thorough search of the campus and confirmed that there is no risk to student safety.
While the original phone call that prompted our safety measures contained hallmarks of a non-credible threat, we will always take potential risks to students with the utmost seriousness.
