NORTH FORK, CA – North Fork Elementary School is currently accepting donations of non-perishable food items to help provide meals for those in need. Due to the government shutdown, SNAP food assistance has been delayed for an indeterminate amount of time. Many local organizations in our mountain communities have stepped up to the plate, with food donations drives occurring in nearly every community. Food banks are expected to see a record number of families seeking help if the shutdown continues.

Collections at the school began today, and will continue through Friday, November 7th. Examples of items that are needed:
- Dry foods
 - Canned foods
 - Rice
 - Beans
 - Snacks
 - Cereal
 - Boxed Meals
 - Salad dressing
 - Ramen
 - Thanksgiving dinner items

Donations can be dropped off at the office during school hours. 33087 Road 228, North Fork.
