IGNITIONS STARTED TUESDAY NOVEMBER 4, 2025
DAILY UPDATES PROVIDED UNDER "EVENTS"
The Santa Fe National Forest is planning prescribed fire operations on Holiday Mesa in the Jemez Ranger District on Tuesday November 4, 2025, pending all required approvals. The 878-acre North Holiday prescribed fire is a broadcast burn meaning fire is applied to the landscape within a defined boundary. The boundary includes Forest Road 608 on the east side and a series of two tracks and handline on the west side. We use prescribed fire to help reduce overgrown vegetation to protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.
Ignitions are planned for two to three days to minimize smoke impacts.
Smoke will be visible and may impact Jemez Springs, La Cueva, Community of Gilman, The Pueblo of Jemez, San Ysidro, and the U.S. Route 550 corridor.
