NORTH FORK, CA – On Saturday, November 8th, North Fork Scout Troop 357 continued a cherished tradition by placing flags at the graves of veterans interred at the North Fork Cemetery. This heartfelt tribute has been observed for many years, originally initiated by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) until the chapter disbanded. The North Fork Lions Club then stepped in to honor this significant custom.

This past Memorial Day, the Scout Troop collaborated with the Lions Club to take on the solemn responsibility of placing flags at the resting places of our veterans. This meaningful act not only honors those who served but also provides the troop members with a profound opportunity to engage in the remembrance of those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
The flags were collected on the 12th, and they will be carefully stored until they are brought out once again for the next Memorial Day observance. Through their efforts, the Scouts and the Lions Club exemplify community service and a deep respect for our nation’s heroes.
The next event for the Scouts will be the annual Christmas tree sale which is scheduled for December 6th in the North Fork Library parking lot.
