YOSEMITE, CA – To allow for sufficient snow depth for grooming, the opening date for Badger Pass Ski Area has been moved to December 19. The delay follows last year’s season closure due to low snowfall, and park officials say the later date will help ensure safer, higher-quality skiing and snowboarding conditions. Visitors should note that the opening remains weather-dependent; check current conditions via the Badger Pass webcam operated by Yosemite Hospitality before heading out.

Glacier Point Road is closed for the season to all vehicle traffic beyond Badger Pass until spring. Administrative access is permitted on Badger Pass Road between Chinquapin and Badger Pass.

Operated by park concessionaire Yosemite Hospitality, Badger Pass is California’s original ski area and a longtime favorite for affordable winter recreation. The area features 10 runs of varying difficulty and five lifts—ideal for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. In addition to downhill terrain, Yosemite offers nearly 100 miles of cross-country skiing and snowshoe trails that originate near Badger Pass. On-site services include equipment rentals, lessons, food and beverage options, and guided cross-country and snowshoe trips. Snow tubing and the terrain park provide family-friendly alternatives for snow play.

Before you go: confirm the opening and current conditions via the Yosemite Hospitality webcam, check road status, dress for winter conditions, and allow extra travel time. For the most up-to-date information, consult Yosemite National Park alerts and Yosemite Hospitality’s website or social channels.
