Focus On Vibrant Health – Nutrition Principle 5

healthNutrition Principle 5:  Eat some of your animal foods raw to get the nutrition you need for vibrant health.

All traditional healthy people eat some (not all) of their animal foods raw.  Critical enzymes and nutrients (especially vitamin B6) are destroyed by heat.  Such raw foods are easily recognized as raw cheese, raw butter, raw milk, raw egg yolks, steak tartare, beef carpaccio, sashimi, fish eggs, and raw oysters.  It is recommended to freeze raw meat and fish for 14 days before eating.

All human societies cook some or even most of their food. Even the Inuit peoples cook a portion of their diet, as well as inhabitants of the tropics who do not need to build fires for warmth. Cooking makes many foods more digestible, neutralizes toxins, liberates minerals and other nutrients, and even makes protein in meat more digestible.  You should avoid eating grains, kale and other dark leafy greens, and many tubers raw.  But do eat some of your animal foods raw.

Homemade smoothies, ice cream, salad dressings, or egg nog are wonderful ways to get these foods.  Look for a source of local raw milk and pasture raised eggs.  Raise your own animals or buy from local farmers for the best quality.  This is far superior to buying from big corporations that have profit, not your health, as a priority.
