The Updated Economic Development Strategy is available for review. The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors will consider the plan for adoption at a public meeting on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.
These pages were created to keep the public apprised of the update of Mariposa County’s Economic Vitality Strategy, which was originally created in 2007.
The Mariposa County Board of Supervisors instructed staff to implement a community-wide outreach campaign regarding the 2007 Economic Vitality Strategy. After three months of discussion with more than 26 citizen groups, staff prepared a report packet for the Board of Supervisors, as a result of the discussions and individual questionnaires, letters and input staff received regarding the 2007 EVS and economic development in Mariposa County, in general. After receiving the in-depth report, the Board of Supervisors directed staff to implement several follow-up actions, one being to hire an economic development consultant to update the almost nine-year-old plan.
Call for an RFP
Following the Board of Supervisors' direction, County staff created a Request for Proposal (RFP) and distributed it via CALED (California Association for Local Economic Development), and received four replies. The Economic Vitality Strategy Update committee reviewed the proposals, ranked each one with a point system and selected Craft Consulting Group. A contract with Craft was approved in
August 2016.
