MARIPOSA, CA — “A Cowboy Christmas” is the festive theme for this year’s annual Merry Mountain Christmas Parade, scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025, in downtown Mariposa. Presented by the Mariposa Chamber of Commerce, the free community celebration kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with the parade winding through the heart of town and showcasing a variety of imaginative floats, local organizations, marching groups and other community entries.

Following the parade, the celebration continues at the Mariposa County Courthouse on Bullion Street with a traditional tree lighting ceremony. Families are invited to gather for the ceremonial lighting and to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus, who will be available for photos. Attendees can warm up around the bonfire while enjoying complimentary hotdogs, hot chocolate and popcorn courtesy of the Mariposa Lions Club.

Visitors will find family-friendly attractions throughout the evening. The Mariposa Rotary Club will host its popular Santa’s Village, offering activities and holiday cheer for children, while Sierra Tel will distribute free books to young attendees to promote literacy and the spirit of giving. The event is designed to be welcoming to all ages and to bring the community together for an evening of seasonal music, decorations and shared tradition.

Logistics & Participation Details

• Parade Participants: To join the parade, pick up an application at the Mariposa Visitor Center. The final deadline to submit applications is December 11. Applications may be submitted in person or emailed to kari@mariposachamber.org. On the day of the parade, all participants must check in at the picnic benches across from Pioneer Market between 3:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. to receive their entry number and staging instructions.
• Arrival & Viewing: Attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure good viewing spots along the parade route. Dress warmly and bring cameras or phones for photos.
• Accessibility & Safety: Event organizers work to make the festivities accessible and safe for all guests.
