MARIPOSA, CA — The Mariposa Arts Council invites young artists across Mariposa County to submit work for In Frame, the Council’s juried youth art exhibition. Open to students ages 11–18 who attend school in Mariposa County, this year’s theme is “All Things Pass.” The submission deadline is January 9, 2026, and entries will be accepted only through the submission form on the Mariposa Arts Council website.

About the show

In Frame is a juried exhibition designed to give young artists a professional platform to showcase their creativity, build portfolios, and gain experience with exhibition procedures. Although the show is juried, it is not a competition and there are no cash prizes. Selected works will be exhibited in Mariposa gallery spaces during Spring 2026, offering participating students public exposure and the opportunity to see their work presented in a gallery context.

Eligibility and submission requirements

Who can enter: Youth ages 11–18 enrolled in school within Mariposa County.

  • Format: Works must be flat, measure 8.5 x 11 inches, and comply with the submission guidelines posted on the website.
  • Media: A wide range of 2-D media are encouraged, including painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, digital art, mixed media, collage, and 2D fiber arts.
  • How to submit: Submissions will only be accepted through the online form at https://www.mariposaartscouncil.org/in-frame. Please review the detailed guidelines on that page before uploading images and completing the form.
Theme: “All Things Pass”

The prompt “All Things Pass” is intentionally open-ended to encourage diverse interpretations. Students are invited to explore personal, cultural, environmental, or temporal meanings of the theme—change, impermanence, transitions, healing, seasonal cycles, or moments that pass quickly. Judges will evaluate how well an entry communicates the artist’s concept, technical skill, and originality.

Tips for applicants
  • Prepare high-quality images of your work: ensure good lighting, neutral background, and sharp focus.
  • If your work is larger or three-dimensional, consider creating a faithful 8.5 x 11 photographic or printed representation that meets the submission specifications.
  • Include an artist statement or brief description explaining your interpretation of the theme—this helps jurors understand your intent.
