'Knocked my 3D glasses right off': Man punched in the face after telling Fresno moviegoer to be quiet

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was reportedly punched in the face after telling a moviegoer in Fresno to quiet down Thursday night.

The 41-year-old victim says he was watching Avatar: Fire and Ash at the Regal Fresno River Park theater when it happened.

“At the 8 p.m. showing of Avatar 3, I asked a group to be quiet. When I sat back in my seat, one person in the group spit at me. I got back up and asked, “Why would you spit on me?” And before I knew it, I took a sucker punch to the face. Knocked my 3D glasses right off my head,” the man said.

Police say the altercation is a misdemeanor assault, but they are still working to identify a suspect. According to officers, this was an isolated incident.

YourCentralValley.com reached out to the theater to confirm whether the man accused of the assault will face any ban.
