
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE)- A man is dead and two women were hospitalized following a shooting Sunday morning, Fresno police said.
The victims were rushed to an area hospital after a violent altercation at an apartment complex in Central Fresno, Fresno police said.
The man was reportedly shot in the upper torso. Officers said the man was seriously injured and died shortly after arriving at the hospital. The two women are expected to survive their injuries.
Just before 11 a.m., officers were notified of a shooting at the Pleasant Village Apartments in the 3600 block of North Pleasant Avenue, near Fedora Avenue.
Police said the shooting stemmed from a verbal disturbance between occupants of two units in the complex.
The situation escalated and carried over into the courtyard, where those involved began physically fighting.
In the midst of the fight, someone pulled out a gun and shots were fired, striking the victims. Additionally, officers said several nearby buildings were also struck by gunfire.
Investigators are searching for the suspect who fled the area. They are also looking for video surveillance, as well as interviewing witnesses.
