Group of teens arrested in Corcoran shooting, killing 16-year-old

CORCORAN, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A group of four teenagers in Corcoran were arrested Saturday in connection with the homicide of a 16-year-old in November, the Corcoran Police Department announced.

Police said on Nov. 18, around 9:50 p.m., they responded to a reported shooting in the 2300 block of Petterson Avenue, near the northeast corner of Burnham Smith Park.

Responding officers found a 16-year-old boy, identified by his family as Angel, dead from gunshots.

Following a lengthy investigation involving multiple agencies, investigators identified the suspects involved and obtained various search and arrest warrants.

On Dec. 20, around 8:20 a.m., with the assistance of several SWAT teams, the warrants were served in the city of Corcoran, during which two firearms with large capacity magazines and ammunition were seized.

Police report the following four suspects were arrested:

  • 19-year-old Ariana Nevarez
  • 17-year-old boy
  • 15-year-old boy
  • 15-year-old boy

Investigators report all four suspects were booked on charges of murder.
