FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The man who died in a shooting Sunday at a Fresno apartment complex was identified by the Fresno Police Department on Monday.
Police reported on Sunday that they responded to a nine-round ShotSpotter activation at around 11 a.m. at an apartment complex near Pleasant and Fedora avenues, where they found three people had been struck by gunfire.

Investigators said 35-year-old Mariano Cabrera and another man were confronted by an unknown suspect inside the complex. At some point, the unknown suspect fired several rounds at them, striking Cabrera multiple times in the upper body.
Officers say the other man the victim was with at the time was also struck, along with a woman who was unintentionally struck by gunfire too. Both the man and woman were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police reported Cabrera was transported to a local hospital, but ultimately passed away.
Investigators say the victim and the suspect know each other, and while there was a potential gang relation, officers say they know that there was an interpersonal relationship – that may have been the cause behind the shooting.
Detectives are actively searching for the suspect involved and ask anyone who may have surveillance footage or was in the area to contact Fresno Police Detective C. Franks at 559-621-2427.
