MERCED, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – One person is dead, and another is in custody after a shooting took place in a Merced neighborhood Saturday evening, the Merced Police Department announced.

Police reported around 9:35 p.m., they responded to the area of 11th and O streets for calls of a shooting.

Responding officers found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving measures from first responders, the victim was pronounced dead on scene.

Investigators ultimately arrested one suspect and believe the shooting stemmed from a family dispute.
