Toddler hit by pick up truck in suspected DUI crash near Clovis Trader Joe's, police say

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A toddler was hospitalized after a suspected DUI driver hit them near Trader Joe’s in Clovis Saturday afternoon, the Clovis Police Department announced.

Police reported just after 2:20 p.m., they responded to the parking lot of Trader Joe’s near Willow and Nees Avenues for a report of a toddler who was run over by a truck.

Responding officers said the toddler was awake and alert, but suffered moderate injuries. The mother was also hit by the truck but was not injured. The toddler was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

Investigators say the driver, 62-year-old Steve Myer of Prather, remained on scene but was ultimately arrested on a charge of felony DUI.

Police say a portion of the parking lot will be closed off as officers investigate.
