SACRAMENTO, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom will deliver his annual State of the State address this week, outlining his administration’s priorities and policy direction for the year ahead.

The address will take place during a joint session of the California Legislature on Thursday morning, January 8, 2026, at the California State Capitol.

The State of the State address is a constitutionally required speech in which the governor reviews current conditions in California and presents proposals related to the state’s budget, economy, public safety, housing, climate policy, education, and other key issues facing residents. The address often serves as a roadmap for legislative action in the months that follow.

Members of the public will be able to watch the address live through several online platforms.
