HANFORD, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A suspected DUI driver was arrested after allegedly threatening to shoot people at a Chili’s in Hanford, the police department announced Wednesday.
Police report on the evening of Jan. 16, they were called to the Chili’s on 12th Avenue for a man who made threats to shoot people inside the restaurant after arguing with staff.
Officers were told the suspect had left in an SUV with family members, and witnesses provided a license plate number. Police said the man associated with the vehicle was 34-year-old Juan Gurrusquieta, and was caught by the city’s FLOCK license plate reader system traveling east on Grangeville Boulevard from 12th Avenue.
Investigators responded to the Chili’s and collected statements from the victims. They later located Gurrusquieta’s SUV in the 1000 block of Connie Drive, near Florinda Street.

As officers approached the home, they reported hearing arguing coming from inside. Upon contact with Gurrusquieta, they determined he was intoxicated.
