OAKHURST, CA. — Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church invites the community to join in worship on Sunday, January 25, at 9:30 a.m. for a special Installation Service celebrating Jason Meyer as Senior Pastor, held during the church’s regular worship service. The service will be followed by lunch and fellowship hosted by the Sierra Vista Deacons and Connection Team, and all are welcome to attend.

The Installation Service marks the culmination of a two-year pastoral search and discernment process and celebrates the formal calling of Pastor Meyer, who has served Sierra Vista faithfully for several years, including the past year as Interim Pastor.
Pastor Meyer joined the Sierra Vista staff in 2017 and previously served as a congregational Elder. During his year as Interim Pastor, he guided the church through a season of transition following the retirement of Pastor Rick Lemberg, offering steady leadership, pastoral care, and a continued emphasis on discipleship and community life.
The pastoral search unfolded over two years. The first year took place while Pastor Lemberg was preparing for retirement, allowing the congregation to prayerfully reflect on its future and clarify the leadership needed for the next season. The second year occurred while Jason Meyer served as Interim Pastor, during which time the congregation experienced his leadership firsthand while continuing in prayerful discernment. Throughout the process, the congregationally affirmed Pastor Nominating Committee worked closely with Session, staff, and outside consultants, engaged the congregation through surveys and conversations, and conducted a broad review of potential candidates, emphasizing the pursuit of God’s will rather than a predetermined outcome.

Originally from San Clemente, California, Pastor Meyer holds a degree in Pastoral Ministry from Multnomah University. His ministry experience includes service as a youth and worship pastor, chaplaincy with at-risk youth and their families, and extensive leadership in Christian camp ministry. He previously served as Executive Director of Camp Oakhurst and as a member of the board of the local Christian Camps and Conferences Association.
Pastor Meyer and his wife, Alicia, have been married for 30 years and are longtime members of the Sierra Vista community. Together they raised their three daughters, Emily, Megan, and Natalie, while also caring for Jason’s younger brother following a season of family loss early in their marriage. Alicia has served Sierra Vista in leadership roles, including as Director of Children’s Ministry, and currently teaches at Yosemite High School. Their shared commitment to faith, family, and community has been integral to the life of the church.
As Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church enters this new season, the congregation warmly welcomes neighbors, friends, partner churches, and community members to join in worship and celebration on Sunday, January 25, at 9:30 a.m. and to remain afterward for lunch and fellowship. Those who would like to contribute cookies for the meal are invited to contact the church office at 559-384-1518 or email info@sierravistachurch.org.
